Message of support from Stephan Butcher, Powys County Council

Dear Sir or Madam,
Over the past three years I have had the pleasure of working with On the Verge, Talgarth, with an idea of incorporating play with nature by creating an amazing space at the centre of the local community and the instigation of Our Tiny Veg Growers Club.
Together we have developed a space at Woodlands Avenue playground where play and a growing space has been established and flourished.
The On the Verge team at Woodlands Avenue Play Area Community Garden, Talgarth has been working tirelessly to inspire and educate the next generation of gardeners through their “Our Tiny Veg Growers” programme.
This unique gardening club for children has not only created a space for young people to learn the art of organic farming but also fostered a deeper understanding of where our food comes from and the importance of working harmoniously with nature.
Throughout the year, the children of Our Tiny Veg Growers Club have been actively involved in cultivating a variety of organic produce. Under the expert guidance of the On the Verge team, the young gardeners have gained hands-on experience in planting, caring for, and harvesting crops. Their enthusiasm and commitment have been nothing short of remarkable, and their achievements are a testament to the power of community-led education.
"It's been amazing to see the children grow alongside their crops," said Jane White, group leader of Our Tiny Veg Growers. "They’ve not only learned valuable skills but have also developed a real appreciation for nature and how food is produced. Watching their excitement when they harvest what they've grown is incredibly rewarding, and I’m confident that this experience will stay with them for years to come."

On The Verge I Preserving and creating wildlife habitats
This project has worked very well and has developed from a playground with fixed play equipment into a facility in the heart of the community. A simple idea has expanded so well that the On the Verge Team have asked to be introduced to the wider communities throughout Powys who would be interested in starting up their own sites to combine play and nature.
The On the Verge Team would love to speak to and potentially meet with any community or town council that may be interested in hosting a Q+A session, and or a site visit with regards to discussing what can be achieved.
If you are interested on learning more, please email Martin Draper for further information. info@ontheverge.wales
